Deliciously different, consistently good

“A teacher who is attempting to teach, without inspiring the pupil with a desire to learn, is hammering on a cold iron”. – Horace Mann, educational reformer (1796-1859)

The Drummers' Jam

A high energy workshop ideal for the whole year group to enjoy. Using reclaimed plastic barrels with broom handles for sticks, pupils have the chance to improvise, develop and perform their own musical ideas whilst learning how to appreciate and view positively the differences in their classmates' contributions. USL educators encourage students to explore their thoughts and feelings through responding physically, intellectually and emotionally to a diverse range of music from African poly-rhythms to Hip Hop grooves.

This session can serve up to 175 students per day (35 pupils per session in a maximum of 5 one-hour sittings)

Prices vary from £450 - £850 per day (plus VAT)

A Taste of Rhythm

This workshop takes a more in depth look at rhythm. Pupils develop careful listening skills whilst learning how to recognise patterns, sequences, order and rhythmic relationships in music from different times and cultures. Participants have fun composing and performing set pieces using 'Low Tech' musical instruments made from all sorts of reclaimed materials from shop dummy legs to kitchen sinks.

This session serves up to 70 students per day (35 pupils per session in 2x two-hour sittings)

Prices vary from £650 - £950 per day (plus VAT)
