USL Liverpool Blitz Sound Archive
Urban Strawberry Lunch are compiling a Sound Archive featuring interviews with people who lived through the World War Two Blitz on Merseyside.
We train young people to conduct and record interviews with elders onto CD. The CD recordings are added to the archive for the education of future generations.
Lunch at St. Luke's (May – October), Leece Street, Liverpool
St Luke's church is a famous Liverpool landmark, partially destroyed in the "May Blitz" of 1941. The ruin is to be regenerated by USL, official "Artists in Residence" at St Luke's.
Urban Strawberry Lunch will be hosting daily events at St Luke's, lunchtime concerts will continue through the week (12-2pm) . Entry by voluntary donation
Urban History Field Trip (May-October)
Schools visit St Luke's for workshop on the history of the building, city and the Blitz. (1 morning and 1 afternoon slot)
Urban History Workshop (October-May)
Full day Urban History workshop at your school.
- Morning session: young people learn how to conduct and record interviews.
- Afternoon session 1: elders visit school to be introduced to young people.
- Afternoon session 2: young people record interviews with elders, working in teams of three with one elder person.
From £285 plus vat. Participating elders and school receive copies (on CD) of all the interviews that they record
