Lunch At St Lukes

ChurchstockAfter a busy morning keeping up with the beat, join Liz for a cosy Take-Away Lunch at home.

In 2001, USL began laying the foundations to establish the group as Artists in Residence at Liverpool’s famous “bombed-out church" St Lukes. The building was partially destroyed during the infamous “May Blitz” of Liverpool during World War 2. The ruined church has stood idle since 1941.

In 2003, we began a Sound Archive project recording interviews with survivors of the May Blitz. One of the uses for these recordings is to use them as source material for a series of shows and events at the bombed out church on the anniversary of its destruction. Following on from the success of these annual events, we are opening up the church during week-day lunchtimes and for special events at evenings and weekends.

Lunch at St Luke’s residency will run from May – October from 2007 until 2009.

USL will be performing at St Luke’s on a regular basis with additional guests including:

  • Unplugged gigs
  • Exhibitions
  • Poetry
  • Dramatic arts
  • Dance

All shows are free. Donations are welcome!
