KUNG HEY FAT CHOI
11 February 2008
Sunday February 10th 2008. USL wanted to celebrate the Lunar New Year and the onset of the Year of the Rat (Ambrose's sign) by opening St Luke's Church to the public and offering participatory activities like a mass jam session and decorating the building with Chinese Lanterns, ribbons, dragons and other adornments.
Over 3,300 people came into the church that day - many drawn in by the mass drumming led by USL, others drawn by the space itself and the wonderful opportunity to be a part of a new and large "congregation", and some people just joined the queue because it was there!
St Luke's was blessed by the Lion Dancers and the Lucky Man (more pictures available on www.myspace.com/lunchatstlukes ) and a great time was had by all. Thanks to all who came to visit us at St Luke's and we look forward to seeing you back there later this year.
