THE LIVERPOOL CONNECTION
26 March 2008
We are feeling extremely proud of ourselves this week. Urban Strawberry Lunch have been awarded £5,500 from the Liverpool Culture Company to host a film festival at St Luke’s in the autumn.
Lovingly called THE LIVERPOOL CONNECTION we will be screening movies old and not so old that have links to St Luke’s, Liverpool or Merseyside. That means the subject matter, writers, performers, directors, cinematographers, make up artists, designers, gaffers, best boys or runners will have some link to this wonderful building or majestic region. In addition we’re going to have some live music, either to accompany the films or as additional entertainment. Lunch at St Luke’s just keeps on giving!
We’re doubly pleased that we are now able to access footage from the North West Film Archive (which hasn’t been possible for many years --- a story much too long to tell here), which means we’re going to be able to show some really old moving pictures alongside the odd block buster ...
We’re still finalising the dates for the festival, and we’ve got a lot of money left to raise for it (donations gratefully recieved!) but be sure to put some popcorn on your shopping list for sometime in later September or Early October.
Films in the open air. How good is that?
